RAPID CITY, SD—Hotel Alex Johnson Rapid City has joined Curio – A Collection by Hilton, Hilton Worldwide’s global collection of distinctive hotels. Located in downtown Rapid City and near Main Street Square, the property is just steps from a variety of restaurants, and shopping and entertainment venues.

Built in 1928, the boutique upscale hotel combines the ambiance of the late 1920s with regional art, according to the brand. This includes carefully restored bricks in the lobby and hand-painted Sioux designs and ‘four sacred directions’ symbols, a tribute to the area’s Native American culture and beliefs.
The property, built by railroad magnate Alex Johnson, offers 143 guestrooms that include views of Main Street Square. Guestrooms include complimentary WiFi, 42-inch flat-screen TVs and coffeemakers. The hotel also includes a newly renovated 24-hour fitness center with Life Fitness equipment, and is located just two blocks away from Founder’s Park, which offers access to more than 10 miles of running and hiking trails.

The hotel features three dining options: a full-service Starbucks in the lobby, which features a fireplace; Paddy O’Neills Pub, which live entertainment, 24 tap beers and a juke box; and Vertex Skybar, the hotel’s private, upscale rooftop venue featuring indoor and outdoor seating with views of the downtown Rapid City skyline and the Black Hills.
According to the hotel, it offers some of the biggest event space in the region with nearly 8,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space and a grand ballroom.
