Sonesta Unveils Corporate Restructuring

BOSTON, MA— Sonesta International Hotels Corp. here has effected a wide-ranging repositioning of its corporate structure and a job-specific re-alignment of the responsibilities of its leading executives. As voted by the company’s board of directors, Stephanie Sonnabend— now president/CEO of the organization— has been tapped to oversee hotel operations, sales and marketing, technology, facilities management, and the firm’s food-and-beverage functions. Additionally, Peter Sonnabend— currently serving as vice chairman/CEO— has been directed to oversee the legal/financial division, future development, and the company’s Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans as well as Egyptian operations. Also included in the restructuring is former Chairman/CEO (for more than 30 years) Roger Sonnabend, who has been named executive chairman of the board and is expected to remain active in the day-to-day affairs of the 24-hotel/resort company. In other moves, it was noted: Paul Sonnabend— who will continue as chairman of the executive committee— has been elected executive vp; Kathy Sonnabend Rowe has been bumped up to senior vp; and Jackie Sonnabend remains positioned as executive vp of the organization.
