MEXICO CITY— Sol Meliá Hotels & Resorts reports that it has upgraded its 489-room Meliá Mexico Reforma Hotel to its “Gran Meliá luxury level” product category, following the completion of a $12 million renovation program and implementation of three floors of its signature Royal Service executive floor rooms. Sol Meliás Royal Service concept provides private, express check-in and check-out, butler and shoe-shine service, a pillow menu, private gourmet breakfast buffet and cocktail lounge, coffee, tea, snack and cocktail service, business suites with upgraded room and business amenities, late check-in and check-out service and use of private, small meeting room for up to two hours at no cost. The Gran Meliá Mexico Reforma Hotel, Convention Center & Spa is located in the heart of Mexico Citys historical center near Chapultepec Park, the Zona Rosa and National Palace. Combined meeting space between the convention center and hotels meeting rooms now total 38,346 square feet. Technology capabilities include videoconferencing, multi-lingual translation services, and a specialized business center with computers, laser printers, Internet and e-mail access. Later this year, the Gran Meliá Mexico Reforma will open a full-service Health Club & Spa featuring a new covered swimming pool with open terrace and view of the citys historical center, a fully-equipped exercise room, sauna and steam rooms, Jacuzzis, a beauty salon and exclusive service areas for men and women offering face and body massages, facials and aromatherapy. A third restaurant, in addition to the hotels Café Miró restaurant and Black & Black steak house restaurant, will also open in 2002 Named LAlbufera, the new eatery is Sol Meliás signature gourmet Spanish cuisine restaurant and will feature a show kitchen.
