Smith Travel Early May Stats: Occupancy, RevPAR Down

NEW YORK— Smith Travel Research (STR) reported preliminary May 2001 figures for the U.S. lodging industry, which suggest that occupancy will be down 4% to 5% versus May 2000. RevPar should be down 3% to 4% in May 2001 versus prior year when final numbers are available.
