ATLANTA— Six Continents Hotels announced plans to open its first Inter-Continental hotel in the Boston market in late 2004. The 420-room hotel is to be developed by Intell Boston Harbor LLC, a real estate development company. Located in the heart of the citys financial district, as well as near the South Station Commuter Rail terminal and MBTA subway connections, the hotel will be ideally situated for business and leisure travelers. The Inter-Continental Boston will be part of a mixed-use project that includes luxury condominiums, ground floor retail and restaurant space. As part of a 20-story building rising along Atlantic Avenue, the hotel will provide a 200-seat restaurant, 75-seat bar, a health club and spa. The hotel also will offer 27,000 square feet of meeting space, including the largest ballroom in the downtown Boston market. Groundbreaking on the project is expected to take place in mid-2002, and scheduled for completion by late 2004.
