OVERLAND PARK, KS— The Sheraton Overland Park Hotel and soon-to-open Overland Park Convention Center have inked an agreement that makes Sprint the communications provider for both, effective when the center opens Nov. 17, followed by the hotel opening on Dec. 1, and includes voice equipment, video, high-speed data and long-distance applications. Within the Sheraton, managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., Sprint is combining a portfolio of high-speed data, in-room entertainment and long distance services. “We evaluated a variety of options to fulfill our communications needs for the entire property,” said Tom Healy, general manager of the Sheraton. “And when we took a look at the platform Sprint was offering, it was the best choice based on the technology and value of all the services. We will be able to operate more efficiently and effectively because we have one provider for everything. It is a very streamlined and smart business solution.” The centerpiece of Sprints communications services to the hotel is Sprint InSite with KoolConnect Interactive Media— a service that provides advanced in-room entertainment and business communications services. Sprint InSite offers a suite of guest-room entertainment applications, including “Starwood Turbo Net” high-speed Internet access over the television set or laptop computer, e-mail accessibility, as well as music, games, local maps and information, digital movies-on-demand with VCR functionality, and digital concierge services. The service is operated through the hotel guests television set via wireless keyboard or remote control.
