NEW YORK— Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts joined China Eastern Airlines Golden Swallow frequent flyer club effective September 1, following alliances with Air China and China Southern Airlines. Club members receive miles for each stay at any of Shangri-Las 38 properties at a corporate rate or above from September 1. Peoples Republic of China-based members also earn miles each time they stay on a local package rate at any Shangri-La or Traders hotel in China. To mark Shangri-Las 29th frequent flyer program, the hotel group is offering members paying a special rate double mileage per stay at any of its 16 Shangri-La or Traders hotels in mainland China, including its newest hotel, the Shangri-La Dingshan, Nanjing, through November 30. China Eastern Airlines is one of Chinas largest air carriers with an extensive route network, including many destinations where Shangri-La has hotels, including Beijing, Dalian, Nanjing, Qingdao, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok. Kent Zhu, Shangri-Las vp-marketing for China, said: “China Eastern Airlines is an important addition to our expanding network of airline partners and complements our agreements with leading carriers in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.” Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has over 19,500 rooms in 10 countries and regions, including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Fiji, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
