MACON, GA—Two new hotels, which would add more than 200 rooms here in Bibb County, are planned in the north part of the county, pending zoning approval. According to reports, applications for the projects are on the agenda of the Macon-Bibb County Planning and Zoning Commission. A hotel and separate office suites are planned at 4318 Sheraton Drive, according to a commission staff report. The applicants, Frances Gavin and Keith Rollins, seek to get a 15.24-acre site rezoned from an agricultural district to a general commercial district. The brand of hotel was not disclosed in the report. The hotel is expected to have about 100 rooms and the office suites would have about 74,200 square feet of space, the report states. The site plan includes two ponds on the property, and the office parks will share driveways off Sheraton Drive. A Holiday Inn reportedly is planned at 3953 River Place Drive and the applicant, Bran Hospitality, is seeking a conditional-use permit for an 111-room building. The proposed five-story structure will have 86,115 square feet. Features would include a full-service restaurant, lounge, banquet facility and indoor pool, according to the staff report.
