ORANGE COUNTY, CA— Marriott International is reportedly planning to open a second Renaissance ClubSport Hotel, with the boutique-style hotel and sports and fitness resort slated to be part of a new development phase at the master-planned Summit Office Campus located in Aliso Viejo here. Groundbreaking is expected by year’s end, and the hotel is scheduled to open in early 2006. It was noted the property is being developed by Parker Properties and will operate as a Renaissance franchise, managed by Leisure Sports. Designed to appeal to both business and leisure travelers, the Renaissance ClubSport Hotel’s Aliso Viejo location is expected to mirror the Renaissance ClubSport in Walnut Creek, CA and is in line to feature a 175-room hotel and a 67,300-square-foot membership-based sports club with state-of-the-art cardiovascular, circuit and free-weight equipment, an NCAA-regulation gymnasium, basketball, volleyball, racquetball and squash courts, group exercise studios, and fully appointed locker rooms. Additionally, an outdoor aquatic area is slated to offer three swimming pools, a whirlpool, bocce courts and a garden patio for special events. It was pointed out guests staying at the Renaissance ClubSport Hotel will have full access to the fitness resort at no additional charge. They would also be able to take advantage of the Fitness Concierge, an on-property fitness expert available to provide a guided tour of the facilities and detailed information on the services and amenities provided.
