SEATTLE— The Seattle Marriott Waterfront Hotel had a “topping out” ceremony celebrating the efforts of the hotels contractors, as well as its owner CNL Hospitality Corp. and its management company Marriott International. The ceremony which was attended by local community and business leaders, including Mic Dinsmore, CEO/Port of Seattle, Seattle convention and visitors bureau President Steve Morris, Columbia Hospitality President John Oppenheimer and Steve Heitzner vp/regional sales and marketing for Marriott. The hotel will be distinguished as downtown Seattles first full-service Marriott hotel and just the second hotel on the downtown waterfront when it opens May 2003. The eight-story property will be within walking distance to downtown Seattles shopping and financial areas; the Belltown quarter; and attractions such as Pike Place Market, the Seattle Aquarium, the Space Needle and Seattle Center. The hotel will supply a meetings venue not currently available in Seattle, which includes 11,000 square feet of space. The overall design of the Seattle Marriott Waterfront will derive inspiration from the natural elements surrounding the building: water, light and the sky.
