N. CHARLESTON, SC Playing off of the award-winning “Smiles” marketing campaign launched last year, the State Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism here has unveiled its new in-state campaign, “Lovin my state of Smiles.” State leaders also outlined plans to promote niches in nature-based, heritage and sports tourism.
Two 30-second television spots will begin airing next week. The $430,000 campaign also includes radio commercials, bumper stickers and buttons. Tourism leaders aim to increase pride among residents in the state and capture some of the estimated $1 billion they spend annually vacationing elsewhere. (2/6/01)
