SAN ANTONIO The San Antonio Express-News recently reported that Marriott International has partnered with Lumbermen s Investment Group and the Professional Golfers Association of America to develop a 500-room resort here. The new development will join the Hyatt Regency Hill Country and the Westin La Cantera as the area s third golf resort.
The project is expected to cost between $500 million and $1 billion, and is slated for completion in 2004. The resort features two golf courses, a 35-acre teaching center, shops and a residential community to be called PGA Village San Antonio on 2,800 acres. The resort will also offer 40,000 square feet of meeting space, a 25,000-square-foot spa, adult and children pool areas and a river with waterslides and waterfalls. (4/6/01)
