DENVER— In a $44 million deal, Sage Hospitality Resources and Shames Makovsky Realty have partnered to bring a 14-story, 228-suite Residence Inn by Marriott to the Central Business District here— the first upper tier and nationally branded extended-stay hotel in the downtown area. “The 228 suites in this signature development will help meet an increasing need to provide high-quality extended-stay hotel options in downtown Denver in close proximity to local companies, hospitals, the Denver Center for Performing Arts, the U.S. Federal Courts and more,” said Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. “This project will not only provide expanded parking options for the Central Business District, but both its construction and its opening will create new job opportunities and economic benefits for our city.” Construction of the Residence Inn Denver Downtown is slated to begin next month, with completion set for spring 2006. The property will be operated by Sage Hospitality Resources. Plans for the new Residence Inn include the creation of studio, one- and two -bedroom suites, meeting facilities, a fitness room and an outdoor spa. A 442-car parking garage, to be utilized by hotel guests, as well as for monthly and daily parking users in the CBD, will be housed on levels two to seven of the building.
