CHICAGO— Saflok has launched Messenger, a wireless access network that converts stand-alone, battery-operated door locks into wireless network access control systems. According to the company, by using Messenger, hotel employees can communicate with locks without visiting each door. Locks can initiate messages that indicate room-readiness and send them directly to a centrally located PC, thereby expediting the check-in process, noted Saflok. Messenger also offers transaction capabilities, as well as real-time locating which enables management to monitor the location of staff, guests or contractors throughout a property. The system is independent from other “room control” systems, but interfaces with PMSs are optional.
