RANCHO CORDOVA, CA The 11-story, 262-room Sheraton hotel here has been converted to a full-service Marriott in an effort to give the operation a boost in the region s increasingly competitive hospitality industry.

“Marriott is a much more recognizable name in the industry,” said Ron Berger, the hotel s general manager for the past 10 years. “We are now the only full-service Marriott franchise in the Central Valley.”

The hotel, owned by San Francisco-based Stanford Hotels Corp. is undergoing a $5 million renovation, that includes the remodeling of the guestrooms and upgrades to the restaurant, lounge areas and meeting room space. The hotel s 185 employees will not be affected by the conversion. (2/7/01)
