SOUTHLAKE, TX— Sabre Holdings Corp. announced the launch of the Sabre Exclusives preferred hotels program. This is the first merchant model program for travel agents developed and integrated into a global distribution system (GDS), according to Sabre. Through the Sabre Exclusives program, Sabre merchandises hotel rooms at selected U.S. hotels through the Sabre Connected U.S. agency network, enabling those agencies to better serve their cost-conscious travelers while earning guaranteed commissions, according to the company. More than 800 hotels have already agreed to participate in the program, Sabre reported. Sabre Exclusives is a key component of the Empowering Agenda that Sabre recently introduced, designed to empower U.S. travel agents to better compete in todays pay-for-performance environment. Sabre, a provider of technology, distribution and marketing services for the travel industry, reported 2001 revenues of $2.1 billion. Sabre owns Travelocity.com, a popular travel site on the web, and GetThere, a provider of web-based travel reservation systems for corporations and travel suppliers.
