MIAMI BEACH— The 422-room Royal Palm Crowne Plaza Resort has finally made its debut here in the citys Art Deco district. developed by Miami-based Peebles Atlantic Development Corp., and operated under Six Continents Hotels Crowne Plaza Flag, it is the nations first and largest African-American-owned and -developed, full-service beachfront resort. Located within walking distance of Lincoln Road and the Miami Beach Convention Center, the five-building Royal Palm includes the reconstruction of the historic Art Deco landmark Royal Palm Hotel, as well as the restoration of the Shorecrest Hotel— both of which date back to the 1930s. Designed by Miami-based architectural firm Arquitectonica, the resort blends the looks of two modern towers, a beachfront lanai and the two historic buildings. Interior designer Lynn Wilson created a “South Beach” feel inside. The resort features 6,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space and two outdoor swimming pools, both with poolside bars. Guestroom amenities include dataports, Internet access, voicemail, in-room safes and mini-bars.
