DALLAS— Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has ended its relationship with The Lanesborough in London, effective May 29. Rosewood has managed the renowned hotel since it opened in 1992. “The Lanesborough is a truly unique hotel that fit especially well within the Rosewood collection,” said James Brown, president of Rosewood. “When you are running a business, however, there sometimes comes a point where you have to think with your head and not just your heart. We recently reached that point with the owners of The Lanesborough, and we had to face the fact that we could not agree on terms that made business sense for us,” he added. Brown said that Rosewoods business strategy for the future is to enter only into long-term management agreements, not shorter arrangements such as the 10-year contract it held with The Lanesborough. While Rosewood managed The Lanesborough, it won several honors including: No.1 in the UK by Zagat Hotels & Resorts Survey; No.1 in Europe by Institutional Investor; No.1 in the UK by Harpers Hideaway; and No.1 in England by Conde Nast Traveller UK.
