Rosemont, IL–Two hotels and a restaurant are planned for the northwest corner of Higgins and River roads for Rosemonts nineteenth and twentieth hotels, according to published reports. The project is part of a multi-phase plan that incorporates the entire stretch north of Higgins Road from River Road to the I-294 Tri-State Tollway for Pointe OHare. The hotel portion of the project is still in the planning stages, according to one official. “Theyre working through… what the characteristic of the hotel would be, names, etc.,” said Village Consulting Engineer Christopher Burke. “This is something that has not been approved by the village at this time.” The villages Zoning Board of Appeals is expected to review the proposal on May 29. It will review the construction and operation of two hotels and an on-site parking structure, architectural drawings of the exterior design and appearance of the hotels and parking structure, construction and development of one or more restaurants and height and distance variations. According to Burke, the hotels are expected to run parallel to Higgins Road while the restaurant will sit closer to River. According to public documents, one hotel is expected to hold 262 rooms while the other will hold 240. Burke said it could be five or more years before residents see development at the corner. The development would further complete the original vision for Pointe OHare, a stretch of once vacant land now home to a Cole Taylor office building, Ram Restaurant, FedEx Kinkos and Starbucks.
