HOLLYWOOD, CA— The “scaled-back-to-305-room” Roosevelt Hotel here will be building on its 75-year history when it is relaunched Nov. 14 with a completely redesigned interior, new lobby restaurant and lounge, and a new venue for its Cinegrill. Slated to boost the profile of the privately owned landmark property, the relaunch will encompass a gala event to benefit the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund. As such, Omara Portuanda and the Buena Vista Social Club are scheduled to perform, and Hollywood Boulevard is to be closed down in front of the hotel for a chalk-art presentation during the event. It was noted the hotel’s $12 million interior renovation covers most of the property’s public areas and tower guestrooms. In late spring/early summer of 2003, a high-end (as-yet unnamed) restaurateur is on tap to take over the Roosevelt’s current restaurant space.
