DALLAS—Room Key, a hotel search engine created by six leading hotel companies, is teaming up with Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) to raise a minimum of $3 million to support collaborative cancer research.
The new Stay the Night, Join the Fight campaign encourages travelers to turn a basic task—booking a hotel—into a fundraising tool. For every hotel stay reserved through Roomkey.com, Room Key will donate $1 to SU2C—$5 for stays booked through the month of April—allowing guests to help support groundbreaking cancer research just by clicking “book.” The more stays booked through Room Key, the more funds will be raised.
“We asked ourselves, ‘What can we do to make the very simple task of booking a hotel room more meaningful to our guests and to our partners?’” Room Key Chief Marketing Officer Stephany Verstraete said in a statement. “We found our answer in this incredible campaign with Stand Up To Cancer, a tremendous charitable program that facilitates collaboration among leading cancer researchers to get new therapies to patients quickly.”
“By galvanizing the universe of business and leisure travelers and the hospitality industry through this exciting campaign with Room Key, we’re able to create additional awareness and build even broader public support for our efforts,” stated Rusty Robertson, SU2C Co-Founder. “Just as we emphasize collaboration among our researchers, Room Key embraces the same collaborative approach among hotels for the benefit of guests. But beyond that, it’s Room Key’s sheer commitment to helping us spread the word and raise meaningful funds that will allow us to deliver effective treatments to patients faster.”
Room Key was founded in 2012 by Choice Hotels International, Hilton Worldwide, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, InterContinental Hotels Group, Marriott International, Inc. and Wyndham Hotel Group, part of the Wyndham Worldwide Corporation.
