ATLANTA— Ritz-Carlton opened its fourth hotel in the Middle East on January 1, assuming management of Le Royal Meridien Bahrain. The hotel company also manages properties in Doha, Dubai and Sharm el Sheikh. The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain Hotel & Spa, set on a 20-acre seafront development, is three miles from the center of Manama. A sporting club with indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a 22-berth private marina are also part of the complex. The seven-story, 264-room hotel, open since 1994, includes several restaurants, from formal to poolside casual, and more than 24,000 sf of meeting space. A 24-month restoration project is currently under way, and the hotel will remain open. Construction will be completed this spring on 23 three-bedroom villas, each with a private swimming pool. Also being completed is the 15-story Sail Tower, offering condominiums, and which includes guest services from the hotel staff. The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain Hotel & Spa is owned by the International Hotel Establishment.
