BOSTON, MA— It will have taken a full year, but by the time the 75-year-old Ritz-Carlton, Boston re-opens its doors for business this fall, the public will essentially be greeted by an (almost) completely new and thoroughly refurbished landmark property. In the wake of a $45-million restoration project that initially addressed the façade of the building and then entailed an extensive redesign of the hotel’s interior— including its guestrooms, public spaces and the petit ballroom— The Ritz-Carlton, Boston has set Oct. 7 as the day it returns to active duty, while its official grand re-opening has been scheduled for Nov. 15. Also encompassed within the current refurbishment of the 273-room property is the implementation of a special Club Floor, renovation of the hotel’s bar, café and lounge facilities, and re-worked roof space for special occasions (starting in 2003).—Michael Billig
