BOSTON— The Phillips Club, the extended-stay concept developed by Millennium Partners that combines luxury hotel accommodations with apartment-style residence, is making its first expansion outside New York. In January 2004, The Residential Suites at The Ritz-Carlton Towers, a 63-unit extended stay property will be repositioned as The Phillips Club at Boston Common. Opened in the summer of 2001 as a component of a major residential, hotel, fitness and entertainment complex in Bostons emerging ladder district, the extended-stay apartments have been a success in a city starved for quality long-term housing options. “The conversion of The Residential Suites to The Phillips Club brand will provide greater marketing opportunities, however, our guests can rest assured that its the name that is changing, not the product or the services and amenities that go with it,” said Donna Crotty, general manager of the Boston club for Millennium Partners. The name change will not affect the relationship the club enjoys with its neighbors, The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common and The Sports Club/LA. The original Phillips Club, developed by Millennium Partners in New York City in 1996, offers 96 suites in a boutique hotel setting across from Lincoln Center on Manhattans Upper West Side.
