DETROIT—Renovations are underway for Trumbull and Porter, formerly the Corktown Inn, and a soft opening is slated for January with an official grand opening soon to follow.
The renovation of the 144-room boutique hotel, led by Patrick Thompson Design, will include guestrooms, a dining venue and outdoor space. Other offerings will include a fitness center with city views; a beer garden; courtyard music venue; private dining room (the Steak Room); and meeting space for smaller events.
Distinct touches by local artists are part of the new design, from the original mural created by Corktown artist Don Kilpatrick to be displayed prominently above the porte cochere, to the words of Detroit poet David Blair in the lobby. The boutique hotel’s name pays homage to the Irish-settled area near downtown called Corktown. The hotel has partnered with Anthology Coffee and Batch Brewing Company to provide locally sourced coffee and craft beer.
The hotel’s full-service Red Dunn restaurant and Burroughs Lounge will open shortly after its launch in January.
