ACME, MI? The Grand Traverse Resort & Spa has completed the bulk of a multi-million-dollar renovation that has added a new golf course, sports and health facilities, and upgraded guestroom and meeting space. The project began two years ago with the addition of The Wolverine, a Gary Player signature golf course, which complemented other courses for a total of 54 holes. It proceeded to include a new clubhouse and spa, plus refurbishment of the 660-room resort?s Tower guestrooms and Governor?s Hall conference space. Under the direction of Denver-based Archiventure Group, an interior design motif features rustic dark wood furnishings, granite and stonework, and earthtone accents. Upgraded rooms have new FF&E, wall covering and carpeting plus two telephones with dataports. Bathrooms have been redone with Italian tile, granite vanity tops, designer fixtures and upgraded lighting. In addition, corridors have been recarpeted and feature better lighting and upgraded fire-detection devices. ?We?re bringing the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa Northwoods theme to the next level. Our goal with this improvement is to enhance the finest full-service resort experience in the region,? said Irving Kass, vp/general manager. The refurbishment of the Governors? Hall ballroom included new carpeting for all of its 20,160 square feet of space. The revamp also included new lighting and wall coverings, and carpeting in the pre-function area.
