DALLAS, TX— Via the roll-out of an all-new contemporary room design, Red Roof Inns is moving along with its systemwide renovation program, turning the chain’s attentions to 12 properties in the Detroit area, along with nine others in the Philadelphia area and four more in the Cleveland area, to be followed by the refurbishing of four Chicago-area Red Roof Inns as early as this coming August. It was noted the nationwide renovation project— touted as Red’s New Rooms— is designed to offer guests “more value for their money” with more features, while reshaping the way guests think of Red Roof Inns by presenting an upscale, designer-coordinated look with residential style, colors and textures. Guestroom enhancements from floor to ceiling are expected to create the appearance of a larger space through more efficient furniture placement, scale and a cohesive blue-and-red color scheme. “Red Roof Inns has re-imagined the ordinary in every detail of the room,” said Michael Saarty, manager of architectural services for Accor, owner of Red Roof Inns. Along these lines, it was noted typical side table lamps have been replaced with overhead chrome-finished fixtures, and oversized decorative mirrors now encompass contemporary pewter frames for a warmer residential feel in concert with granite vanity countertops set against a color accent wall. Moving beyond the main room area, guests will find bathrooms with the look of wood flooring, European-styled shower curtains and artwork on painted accent walls. Catering to value-conscious business travelers, Red Roof Inns’ Business King rooms are to feature a new furniture arrangement aimed at enhancing interaction among guests and increasing comfort in viewing the television from three primary points in the room: the work desk, bed or club chair. Beyond improved space design, the Business King rooms will also now feature integrated built-in cabinetry with microwaves and mini refrigerators. Additionally, each renovated Red Roof Inn is slated to receive enhanced landscaping, exterior lighting and undergo complete redesign of the main lobby areas. Moreover, a flat-screen television tuned to CNN is pegged to be standard in the coffee service area to keep guests tapped into world events and news. Renovation of nine Baltimore Red Roof Inns, five Columbus properties and eight Washington D.C. locations was completed in June 2003. All told, the company plans to complete its nationwide effort over the course of the next several years.
