ORLANDO- A record 38.9 million Americans have planned a Thanksgiving getaway of 100 miles from home or more, according to AAA.
Thanksgiving travel in 2000 is expected to be up 4% over the 37.4 million people who took a trip a year ago.
About 59 % intend to stay overnight with relatives or friends while 24% expect to stay in a hotel or motel, and 6% will stay in a cabin/condo.
AAAs holiday travel projections are based on a national survey of 1,300 adults by the Travel Industry Association, which conducts special research for AAA. (11/14/00)
