LAS VEGAS Ramada Franchise Systems is considering whether it needs to make changes to its logo, said Steve Belmonte, president/CEO, at the brand s annual conference held here at The Venetian Resort, Hotel & Casino May 21-25.
I ve had some licensees say we ought to consider a logo change, Belmonte said while addressing reporters during the conference.
But while change is being considered, Belmonte made one thing clear. One thing I won t do is institute a sign change just for the hell of it.
As a result, Ramada s logo will be scrutinized by focus groups, said Belmonte, who said, I like the Ramada sign; I don t see anything wrong with it.
However, after focus groups consider the issue, they may determine it s dated and old, he noted.
Choice Hotels International recently revamped its signage and debuted the results at its annual conference. That move caused a stir among some franchisees, who indicated that they hadn t given the logos their full seal of approval before the unveiling. (5/23/01) Ruthanne Terrero
