CHICAGO—The Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, Chicago updated its lobby design to offer guests an inviting area for lounging, meeting and socializing.
The new look includes movable seating and tabletop components, decorative accents, and art work by Vivian Maier.
U.K.-based designer Jim Hamilton of Graven Images, who designed the hotel’s interiors and public spaces, returned to update the lobby. With the exception of preserving the wall-to-wall screen of interconnected Egyptian brass medallions and 50 ft.-long fireplace, the hotel’s lobby has been completely refurbished. New “Ro” chairs, created by the Republic of Fritz Hansen, are designed with the human body in mind and are adjustable. They feature magenta cushions and a charcoal base. Silver reflective tabletops with built-in outlets for electronic devices have been added to the lobby, as well.
Eleven pieces of Vivian Maier’s photography are on display. Her work depicts street scenes in Chicago providing a glimpse of Chicago’s culture.
“I have already noticed the difference in the lobby activity since the recent unveiling of the new design,” stated Pierre-Louis Giacotto, general manager of the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, Chicago. “The inspiring ambiance creates a contagious, energetic vibe and enhances both the leisure and business traveler’s experience. We wanted to provide guests with cutting-edge amenities and surroundings that complement their every need.”
