MINNEAPOLIS, MN? In tune with its global, brand expansion strategy, Radisson Hotels Worldwide added 14 new hotels under its flag this past January. The new hotels represent about 3,000 rooms, which brings the total number of rooms under the Radisson brand to 92,000 worldwide. ?We have been building momentum,? said Peter Blyth, president of development for Radisson. ?But [in January]we broke all of our past development records for bringing individual hotel properties into the brand.? The new additions include the Radisson SAS Saga Hotel Reykjavik and Radisson SAS Island Hotel Reykjavik. This is the first time the Radisson flag will fly in Iceland. The SAS Island Hotel is located in the new business center, about 20 minutes outside the heart of the capital city. The SAS Saga Hotel is located near a ?quiet university setting,? and about a five-minute walk from the city center. Both properties offer rooms with satellite television, direct dial television, mini bar, room service and scenic views of the city, according to the company. In line with an aggressive expansion strategy for Latin America, Radisson opened the Radisson Plaza Hotel in El Salvador. The 195-room hotel is located next to the World Trade Center in San Salvador. This is the 14th Radisson hotel to open in Latin America and the fifth Radisson property to be developed adjacent to a World Trade Center. The hotel features a business center, shopping arcade, sauna, tennis courts, on-site bank, on-site car rental, a health club and an outdoor swimming pool. The hotel also has 35,000 square feet of meeting space and a ballroom that can accommodate up to 2,000 people. Also newly opened is the Radisson Hotel Atlanta Airport. It?s a 232-room hotel located 1.5 miles from the International Airport and six miles from the downtown area. Other newly opened hotels under the Radisson flag include locations in Florida, California, Canada, Norway, Denmark and Sweden.
