DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES— The Ritz-Carlton Dubai took the honor of Outstanding Hotel of the Year at this years Depa Middle East Hotel Awards, which took place at the Semiramis Inter-Continental Hotel in Cairo April 18, 2002. The hotel also won awards in the best leisure hotel and best standard hotel room categories. Other hotels receiving major awards included Le Royal Meriden Bahrain (best design project); Emirates Towers Hotel Dubai (best business hotel and best executive floor); JW Marriott (best conference hotel); and Le Meridien Dubai (best environmentally friendly hotel and best PR campaign). Regional winners included Six Continents Hotels for best ad campaign, and Ritz-Carlton for best group hotel employer. The awards, in its second year and co-sponsored by international hotel interior contractors, Depa Hotel Interiors, attracted more than 110 individual entries from 40 luxury hotel across the Middle East, and were judged in 16 separate categories by an international panel of hoteliers, designers and consultants.
