SYDNEY Four security guards and two union members were injured when protesters crashed through the glass doors of Sydney s Wentworth hotel here today, storming the building. About 200 unionists were protesting at the hotel against the firing by management of 20 workers last week. The workers were sacked as part of a condition of sale of the 431-room hotel, the union said.
After unionists occupied the lobby for half an hour, management agreed to meet a delegation of union officials and workers, but there have been no results of the talks. A union spokesman said the hotel s management had agreed to give the union a response by Friday. (2/14/01)
