NORWALK, CT— Priceline.com, the name-your-own-price Internet company, confirmed Friday, April 12 it had ended its affiliate relationship with biddingfortravel.com, a website that provided tips on getting the lowest price for airline tickets, hotel rooms and other services. Priceline spokesman Brian Ek said the relationship was ended, but would not discuss details, saying the companys dealings with affiliates were private. The Wall Street Journal reported that biddingfortravel.com and similar sites were undercutting Pricelines system, which assumes bidders dont know the lowest price that companies will accept. Under the terms of Pricelines affiliate agreements, its partner sites set up links to Priceline and earn commissions if customers go on to buy tickets or hotel rooms.
