NEW YORK Premier Hotels, the budget hotel operator with the UK rights to operate the Howard Johnson and Days Inn brands, is to venture into the serviced apartment market. According to Stuart Harrison, Premier Hotels managing director of brands and franchising, the company has plans to open its first 58-room apartment hotel at the ExCel Exhibition Centre in the London Docklands by spring 2002. Premier Hotels is not expected to develop a completely new brand; instead, the likely focus is on segmentation to appeal to the long-stay mid-market sector. (2/16/01) SOURCE:HVS International
