NORTH ADAMS, MA— HOTEL BUSINESS® has learned Nancy Fitzpatrick, whose family owns the historic Red Lion Inn, Stockbridge, MA, will direct the management of The Porches Inn, a unique 50-unit property that opened here July 1. The property, situated across from MASS MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art), was renovated from six row houses built in the 1890s. The buildings, whose exteriors were maintained although now painted six individual colors, are linked by two distinct front porches of 145 and 95 feet, hence the name. The property was developed by Berkshire Hills Development Co. LLC, headed by John Wadsworth Jr., the former chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia. The North Adams corridor is in the process of being revitalized, sparked by the conversion in 1999 of the sprawling 27-building former Sprague Electric Co. into MASS MoCA. Additional development plans for the hotel property include incorporating two proximate buildings into the mix, one of of which will target the extended-stay market. —Stefani C. O’Connor
