HOUMA, LA—Plans to build two hotels behind the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center are what San Antonio, TX-based K Partners Hospitality Group presented to the Terrebonne Parish Council here this week. According to reports, the company is proposing to buy a six-acre tract of parish-owned land on Civic Center Boulevard, possibly putting a wetlands discovery center planned for the property on hold. Part of the land was already set aside for a Wild in the Wetlands discovery center, planned for about 2.5 acres, reports said. A five-year agreement, signed in October by the parish and the center’s foundation, however, has a clause that could allow the parish to opt out of the agreement. K Partners wants to build a three-story, 115-room Hilton Garden Inn and a three-story, 87-room Marriott SpringHill Suites. The council voted to discuss the hotel group’s proposal again in two weeks.
