PHOENIX— The Greater Phoenix Convention & Visitors Bureau— in an effort to promote the city as a multi-cultural destination— has booked the 2002 national convention of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists as well as the 2003 annual convention of the National Indian Gaming Association. Both groups will meet at the Phoenix Civic Plaza with tourism officials suggesting a combined economic impact of $2.3 million, filling 8,440 room nights.
