INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Whether it’s celebrating an anniversary, receiving an award, earning a certification, debuting a new product or expanding the business, hotel companies and vendors achieve new milestones on a daily basis. Here’s a look at recent accomplishments:
Orkin Launches New Service for Businesses
With concerns about germ transmission at an all-time high and businesses increasingly concerned about public health, pest control leader Orkin LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rollins Inc., has launched VitalClean, a new service that will help businesses quickly and thoroughly suppress a wide variety of serious pathogens.
VitalClean service uses an EPA-registered disinfectant labeled for use against a number of pathogens, including other known coronaviruses (specifically feline coronavirus and canine coronavirus) and the influenza strains that caused two other global outbreaks—swine flu and avian flu. When applied at full strength in accordance with the product label by trained Orkin technicians, this powerful disinfectant will kill 100% of bacteria and viruses on hard, non-porous surfaces, according to the company.
“The disinfectant product we use is incredibly effective against other coronaviruses, has almost no toxicity and has been approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for fast-track review by the EPA for specific use against the SARS-CoV-2 virus,” said Judy Black, VP of quality assurance and technical services, Rollins Inc.
Aptech Reaches 50-Year Milestone
Aptech Computer Systems celebrates 50 years of hospitality technology leadership in 2020. The firm’s back office, budgeting/forecasting and business intelligence hotel accounting software solutions are used by hundreds of hotel companies to run their businesses.
When I started at Aptech in the 1980s, we developed accounting applications for many industries as well as front office systems for hotels,” said Jill Wilder, VP. “In the 1990s, Aptech saw the Y2K problem was real. Our focus then became solely hospitality with the creation of Profitvue back office to overcome the two-digit date limitation issues with existing systems.”
PVNG, Aptech’s newest version of hotel-specific back-office accounting, captures strong functionality with a simple user interface based on the latest cloud-based technology platforms.

SevenRooms Launches Delivery Platform
SevenRooms, a data-driven hospitality platform that combines operations, marketing and guest engagement tools, has launched Direct Delivery, a direct digital ordering solution for delivery and pick-up orders. The Direct Delivery technology is free to hospitality operators across the U.S. for the next 90 days as the industry navigates uncertainty surrounding mandated closures related to COVID-19.
With Direct Delivery, operators are able to increase revenue while in-store operations are closed and create additional revenue when in-store operations resume; cut costs by shifting delivery orders to direct, free channels, while still maintaining third-party delivery channels; own delivery guest relationships by leveraging robust data for marketing and loyalty; and boost revenue and order frequency through marketing automation.
SevenRooms’ Direct Delivery digital ordering solution is fully integrated with an automated guest engagement stream that was created to turn digital orders into repeat orders and future dine-in guests. These campaigns will focus on personalized, intelligent retargeting to re-engage customers who have previously placed delivery orders.
