PHILADELPHIA— Pennsylvania Convention Center officials, union leaders and Mayor John Street are currently working toward developing a new strategy to reverse Philadelphia’s reputation as a costly meetings destination. The goal of the group is to cut the cost of doing business at the convention center. Starting June 28, key players and members of the convention center’s Agreement Resolution Committee will hold a series of meetings to decide how to make the convention center more affordable to groups. The Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association said the cost for a show here is approximately 30% more than in comparable unionized convention destinations.
