NEW YORK— On Command and USA TODAY have finalized plans to extend their interactive television partnership until 2004. In addition, On Command has named a new national sales manager. Going back, On Command and USA TODAY launched the USA TODAY News Center product in July 2001, which provides hotel guests with access to weather, sports, financial, technology, and entertainment news via On Commands digital interactive television menu. Currently the product is accessible in 230,000 hotel rooms throughout the country. This latest agreement means that the two parties, USA TODAY and On Command, will continue to work together on USA TODAY News Center, which gets its news from USA TODAY, through at least 2004. In related news, On Command has tapped David Goldstone to join as vice president of sales, effective Jan. 20, 2003. Goldstone will oversee the management of all sales functions for the company. Prior to coming onboard, he held the position of national sales manager with Panasonic and like posts at Tango, USA and Gerber Goldschmidt Group. On Command is a provider of in-room entertainment technology to the lodging and cruise ship industries.
