FORT WORTH, TX— A new $90-million luxury hotel is now set to rise next to the Fort Worth, TX, convention center following the Fort Worth City Council’s recent approval of the project. Omni Hotels is the hotel company that won the approval. Plans call for a multi-story property with about 600 rooms, 48,000 sf of meeting space, two restaurants, a pool, an exercise facility and an underground parking garage. Depending on the results of Omni Hotels’ market studies, luxury condominiums could also be built on the structure’s top floors. The design will reflect Fort Worth’s cultural roots and Texas heritage. Wireless high-speed Internet access will be available in the hotel’s guestrooms and public spaces free of charge. Omni Hotels is hoping to break ground on the project by the end of the year and open the doors in 2008. Omni Hotels will also privately fund the development. However, the City of Fort Worth could provide the company with financial incentives relating to the project.
