MIAMI Occidental-Allegro Hotels & Resorts (Allegro) reported that through October, combined U.S. market sales at the four Allegro Resort brands Allegro Resorts, Royal Hideaway, Jack Tar Village, and Caribbean Village exceeded 1999 levels by 25%. These sales levels surpassed the companys own projected sales for the period by 21%. The company s earning also exceeded the general hotel market in the Caribbean and Mexico, which according to the Caribbean Tourism Organization, has been losing U.S. business to Europe, mega resorts, theme parks, casinos and cruises. Ivo Razza, Occidental-Allegro senior director/marketing, attributes the outstanding Allegro results to guerilla marketing and sales efforts in the U.S market. (11/21/00)
