NEW YORK— A pair of New York’s Finest— canines, that is— were on hand during Monday morning’s opening general session of the 24th Annual NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference here. For police dogs Mac and Kiefer (and their handlers), their presence at the meeting was perhaps as much a testament to security as it was to represent the New York City Police Foundation and its K-9 Corps, recipients of a $3,000 check honoring the Big Apple’s uniformed services as “the real deal” of the year for their efforts in the wake of the 9/11 terror attacks.—Michael Billig
