NEW YORK— On March 1, the 147-room San Carlos Hotel, currently winding up a $22 million renovation here, will officially join Summit Hotels & Resorts. As previously reported in HOTEL BUSINESS®, the property, located at 150 East 50th St., is slated to reopen its doors in May following the 16-month property revamp. According to Hy Arbesfeld, president/San Carlos Hotel, Inc., the property decided to align itself with Summit because of the company’s state of the art reservation technology, e-commerce solutions, customer relationship management, and sales and marketing support. Richard Lewis, managing director of Summit Hotels & Resorts noted the San Carlos would be “a perfect fit.” Summit Hotels & Resorts is a wholly owned subsidiary of Chicago-based IndeCorp, the holding company that also owns Preferred Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and Sterling Hotels & Resorts.
