NEW YORK— A spokesperson from Marriott International told HOTEL BUSINESS® that the Marriott Financial Center Downtown is currently undergoing an extensive renovation and will be re-branded as a JW Marriott hotel in late fall. According to the spokesperson, the renovation is being done in phases— the guestrooms have already been completed, but work on the lobby— which is slated for an “entirely new look”— has yet to commence. Accordingly, an exact date for the official name change has not been pinned down. The 38-floor, 508-room property’s addition to the JW Marriott brand portfolio is significant, according to the spokesperson, because it gives the company significant brand presence for its three top brands— Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott and Marriott— in the New York City market. The Financial Center property joins the Rihga Royal as the second JW-branded hotel in NYC. —Kelly Wayne
