NEW YORK The Metropolitan Hotel (formerly known as the Loews New York), has launched a Pink Slip Pick Me Up program in sympathy for the more than 30,000 techies and dot-commers who have been laid off in recent months.”
The program provides drink discounts at the hotel s Lexy bar, whose bartenders are equipped with a list of headhunters and on-line job sites. Pink-slipped patrons can also enter a drawing at the hotel for a chance to win a free job-training session. One caveat: entrants must show proof of termination, which must be dated no earlier than November 1, 2000.
A discounted room rate under the program also provides guests with the most recent Sunday classifieds.
The Loews New York made the transformation into The Metropolitan Hotel late last year, when it went through a $17 million renovation that gave it a facelift and upgraded its lobby, restaurant, lobby bar, Penthouse meeting room and Business Class Lounge. The hotel s redesign has a South Beach feel, according to hotel officials.
