LONDON Japanese bank Nomura and Marriott International are considering a joint #2 billion, or $2.87 billion bid for Compass Group s Le Meridien hotel chain, the Sunday Business reported. Nomura and Marriott have previously been rival bidders for the chain, which is being sold by Compass as it looks to focus on its catering business. Guy Hands of Nomura is believed to have held talks with Marriott over a possible joint bid, the newspaper reported, citing a source close to Nomura. (4/14/01)
