NEWPORT BEACH, CA— The second and final phase of a $60-million, year-and-a-half-long renovation of the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa is underway. When the refurbishment is finished in December, the hotel will feature 20 luxury suites, including five penthouse suites with ocean views; 532 guestrooms; and a 14,000-square-foot spa with 16 treatment rooms, hair salon and spa pool. Additionally, the hotel will have 41,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting space; an 8,000-square-foot lobby with a porte cochere and water feature; a lounge pool with a pool bar and whirlpool; and a new restaurant. The two-phase project began last July with the reconstruction of the hotel’s North Wing. Now completed and re-opened, it has 260 redesigned guestrooms featuring the recently announced Marriott bed consisting of an 11-inch mattress, feather bed topper, 300-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, a down blanket, six down pillows and a colorful bed scarf.
