WHITE PLAINS, NY— The Governor of New York State, George Pataki, and the Mayor of New York City, Rudolph Giuliani, have issued open letters to hospitality industry professionals, encouraging their attendance at the 86th annual International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show (IH/M&RS), November 10-13, 2001, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Both officials stress the importance of getting back to business, and encourage hotel and restaurant professionals to demonstrate their resolve and determination to bolster the hospitality industry by gathering in New York City for the IH/M&RS this November. “The IH/M&RS is following the directives of Governor Pataki and Mayor Giuliani and getting back to business. The show will provide hospitality professionals the opportunity to stand in solidarity with New York City and will serve as a focal point to move forward together in revitalizing our industry,” said Gene Rupnik, chairman of the IH/M&RS Board of Directors. The 86th annual IH/M&RS will be held Saturday, November 10, through Tuesday, November 13, 2001, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The show will feature more than 1,900 hospitality industry suppliers and attract approximately 58,000 trade attendees. Show organizers said a portion of all IH/M&RS attendee registration fees will be donated to disaster relief charities including the American Red Cross, Twin Towers Fund, Uniformed Firefighter’s Association Widows’ & Children’s Fund and Windows of Hope.
